When I was 9 years old (even though I later updated the label to 10…), I took part in a competition at my Primary School to design an advertisement for our local Boots Chemist.
I thought about what was being asked of us, and came to the conclusion that Boots would choose an advert that painted it in the best light. With that in mind, I designed a simple poster that got straight to the point of Boots being a good shop.
Looking back, I was perhaps a little too direct with my point. Next time Boots ask me to design an advertisement, I’ll be ready. And while I did not win the competition, my entry was awarded runner-up.
I won a bag of sweets. I was very pleased.
